The quality of the platform lever escapement together with the delicacy of the frame and the whole clock has led some to the conclusion that Malley was the retailer of a clock made by James Condliff, the celebrated skeleton clock maker in nearby Liverpool. We have ben unable to confirm this, but it remains a possibility.
John Malley, recorded as a clockmaker and jeweller, is recorded working in Market Street, Lancaster, in 1850.
