Priest Norwich c.1840
An unusual small wall drop dial timepiece, the 9 ½" diameter painted iron dial signed 'Priest Norwich', the fusee movement in a rosewood drum case, with a brass lined pendulum aperture, and cast brass bezel and sight ring.
Stock No. 3314
The case is unusual, being a one piece 'drum' case with the 'drum' following the outline of the drop. It also has an interesting form of rear door, as well as a side and bottom door, that forms a disc that rotates to lock it in place or remove it.
George Priest entered a partnership with James Bennett in 1822, but worked on his own account from 1830 - 1854, from premises at 2 Brigg's Lane.
