A small drop dial wall timepiece, the 8” diameter convex iron dial signed ‘Frodsham Gracechurch Street London’.The fusee movement has nicely shaped plates, and is fronted by matching steel hands. The one piece mahogany case has restrained brass inlay to the square based trunk, a rear access door, and a cast brass bezel.

The Frodsham family was one of the premier clockmaking dynasties of the nineteenth century, and John Frodsham, who was responsible for this clock, moved from premises in Kingsgate Street to Gracechurch Street in c. 1825, where he was joined by his son, Henry John in 1834. John Frodsham died in 1849.
