A charming small Regency trunk dial timepiece, the 8” diameter convex painted iron dial signed ‘Sm. Peacock Kimbolton’ the fusee movement with shouldered plates fronted by matching steel ‘pierced moon’ hands, in a one piece mahogany case with square base and restrained geometric brass inlay to the trunk, moulded dial surround, and cast brass bezel.

It is recorded that Samuel Peacock was born in Thurleigh, Bedfordshire, and was apprenticed to his cousin, also Samuel, in 1799, whom he succeeded in business in Kimbolton in 1808. He continued to work there until his death in 1842.
