A good small tavern clock by James Tregent, with a 22” white painted wood dial, the timepiece movement fronted by typical ‘pierced heart’ brass hands. The mahogany case has a fine flame veneer, a quarter round base with a door for pendulum regulation, and simple rounded ‘ears’. Total height - 47”

The distinguished maker James Tregent, who was watchmaker to the Prince of Wales, is recorded working initially at 35 Strand in 1775, then in Leicester Fields (Leicester Square) as a member of the Clockmakers Company from 1781 - 1808.
