A good Georgian wall timepiece, the 12" diameter engraved silvered brass dial signed 'Edwd. Buckwell Brighton', the fusee movement with tapered plates and pendulum holdfast, in a mahogany case with turned surround and moulded brass bezel with integral lock.

There are two Edward Buckwells recorded working in Brighton - father and son. The father, the probable maker of this clock, was working in James Street from 1819 to 1834. He was clockmaker to the King and Prince Regent.
