A classic trunk dial by this iconic maker, with 12” diameter wooden dial, a massive timepiece movement mounted on a seatboard, numbered 1604 three times, and signed on the back plate, with a heavy steel rod pendulum, also numbered, in a chisel based mahogany case, numbered itself in two places.

Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy was of the third generation of this family of fine clockmakers,and worked from 68 Pall Mall from 1810 to 1854. He was born in 1780 and died in 1854. He provided many clocks for Buckingham Palace, where he had a workshop, and other government
offices.
