A top quality double fusee wall clock, the movement with double chain fusees, striking the hours on a bell. The flat iron 12" diameter dial elegantly signed 'Tree Gt. Dover St. London', in an oak case decorated with oak leaf carving around the dial, with a domed head to the back box, with two side doors with sound frets, and further bottom door.

The cast brass bezel has a silvered sight ring.
James Tree is first recorded working at 15 Salisbury Crescent, Walworth, and from 1844 to 1847 at 3 Hunter Sreet, Old Kent Road. In 1847 he moved to 122 Great Dover Street where he firm remained and in 1888 was styled James and Stephen Tree.
