A decorative small mantel timepiece the gilt engine turned dial with chased floral surrounding decoration, signed 'Adams 36 Lombard St London', the backplate to the fusee movement similarly signed, in a mahogany case of rococo design on gilt chased brass bracket feet. Height: 10"

Thomas Adams is recorded working at this address after concluding his partnership with Thomas Widenham in 1844, until 1851. A distinguished maker, he is recorded as being '..maker to HRH Prince Albert'. He died in Catford in 1870.
