A good late nineteenth century wall timepiece, the 12" diameter flat iron dial signed 'J J Stockall, London', the square plated chain fusee movement in an oak case with a cast brass bezel.

This is typical of the late nineteenth century fusee wall clock, that is normally found in a mahogany case. Reliable, good timekeepers and extremely legible, they were found in almost every office, police station hospital and more notably, railway establishment.
James John Stockall originally from Lancashire, is record working in Clerkenwell Road from 1863 - 1882, and subsequently with his son until 1895, when the by then large firm became Stockall Marples, which continued until about 1970 at the same address in Clerkenwell Road.
