A very rare miniature 5-glass Victorian mantel timepiece, with a 3” square silvered engraved brass dial to the chain fusee movement in a rosewood case with boxwood stringing. Total height - 6 ¼” (160 mm.).

This is probably the smallest ‘Library Timepiece’ that I have ever seen.
John Hagger Allis, born in 1817 in Tewkwsbury, was a distinguished Bristol maker, and is recorded working at this address from 1851 - 1876. He also made barometers, and he made a clock exhibited in the 1851 Great Exhibition.
