3378 John Meredith London. c.1760
John Meredith London. c.1760
An unusual small Georgian cartel clock, the 8 ½” engraved brass dial with false pendulum aperture signed ‘John Meredith London’, the fusee timepiece movement with original verge escapement, in a tapered drum case veneered in laburnum and fruit wood.
Stock No. 3378.
Price: £5,500
John Meredith is recorded working from 1751 to 1755 or possibly 1776. This clock may be a modification of a more elaborate carved cartel clock, that perhaps became damaged and was re-veneered later.
