An impressive large wall timepiece, the 16” diameter wooden dial boldly signed ‘De St Leu, London’, the fusee movement with original anchor escapement fronted by elegant brass hands, the dial surround and bezel of mahogany, and the back box with double salt box projections of oak.

Daniel de St. Leu - (‘a good maker’ - Britten) - made complicated watches for the Eastern market, and is recorded working in London 1753 - 1797, and was watchmaker to Queen Charlotte in 1765.
