Dutton & Co. London. c.1868
An impressive Victorian drop dial by Dutton & Co., the silvered engraved 12” diameter brass dial signed by this important maker, including the Queen Victoria royal cipher, and the date 1868. The typically high quality fusee timepiece movement has a steel pendulum rod, and heavy brass bob, and bold steel hands. The mahogany case has superb flame veneer to the trunk, and side and bottom doors. This clock was a part of a government commission of 1868 for the civil service, and inventory labels inside the case indicate that it hung in the Public Record Office, Chancery Lane.
