A rare small Georgian wall timepiece, the 8" diameter convex brass engraved and silvered dial signed 'G.Staples, London', the fusee movement with original verge escapement, in a mahogany case with turned surround, round base, and single saltbox projection.

George Staples is recorded working in London from c.1790 into the early 19th century. He is known to have made a series of very similar small dial clocks of which this is one, all with the same convex dial, unusual five minute marks to the chapter, latched bezel tags, and decorative steel hands.
