3307 Saml. Hardy London c. 1790
/// SOLD ///
Saml. Hardy London c. 1790
A rare Georgian wall timepiece with a 10” diameter brass dial with roman and arabic numerals, the original verge and crown wheel escapement fronted by decorative steel hands in a mahogany case with double saltbox projections and an unusual fully opening side panel in place of side and bottom doors.
Stock No. 3307
Apart from its small size, this clock is unusual in having a single opening panel in place of a side door, and also for having small ‘lug’ extensions to the dial through which it is attached to the case which allows for no visible fixings when the bezel is closed.
Samuel, son of John Hardy, is recorded working in Somerset Street, Aldgate, 1778 - 1805.
