A good small drop dial wall timepiece, the 9” diameter painted dial signed ’S.Mayer 76 Union Street Borough S.E.’, the fusee movement in an oak case with short trunk, with a turned dial surround and cast brass bezel.

This high quality clock is also, unusually, fully signed on the front plate of the movement. An S. Mayer is recorded working in London in 1900, and another in Red Lion Square in the 1830s. This is probably by the former, and would date from the end of the nineteenth century.
